Dr. Kevin Carlson earned an A.B., cum laude, in Biology and Economics at Smith College in 1990. She is a 1994 graduate of the Yale School of Medicine, where she received her M.D., cum laude, the Norma Bailey Berniker Prize, a Janet M. Glasgow Memorial Achievement Citation, and was accepted into the Alpha Omega Alpha Medical Society.

 

She completed her residency in Internal Medicine at Brigham and Women’s Hospital in Boston, Massachusetts and her fellowship in Geriatric Medicine and Gerontology at Harvard. She is Board Certified in the specialties of Internal Medicine and Geriatric Medicine by the American Board of Internal Medicine.

 

 

Dr. Carlson has been a practicing physician in Columbia, Maryland since 1998. She is on staff as an Attending Physician at Howard County General Hospital where she admits patients when the need arises.

 

 

Dr. Carlson’s clinical passion is helping patients optimize healthy lifestyle choices while providing screening and early detection of disease to promote successful aging. She enjoys taking care of complicated elderly patients and maximizing their quality of life.

 

 

In addition to volunteering as a Yale Class agent and in her children’s school, Dr. Carlson enjoys her participation as an appointed member on the Howard County Board of Health and on the Medical Advisory Board of the Columbia Association.

 

 

Dr. Carlson grew up in Columbia, Maryland where she returned in 1998 to live, work and raise her own family. She and her husband have three wonderful children and a West Highland Terrier.
